Ruby on Rails
Does or has anyone used used Ruby or more specifically Ruby on Rails? I've been reading a bit about it and seems interesting. I've been hearing that its the next big thing for a little while now. I've never really done much web programming, but have been looking to give it a go. PHP is an obvious choice, but I've read a lot of good things about Ruby on Rails. Anyway, just wondered what everyone's thoughts were.

RE: Ruby on Rails
I've used it before and it's pretty cool. It's a little more difficult to setup and you have to do some command line stuff to get started. You might be thrown off by it at first, but you can get the hand of it. Ruby was intended to be an easy, beginner language. With rails, you need to get used to the MVC model (model, view, controller). If you look at PHP frameworks like CodeIgniter, it's essentially the same except with PHP.

I never made a big site with ruby. I was going to do it for my robotics team website (and we have a dedicated server so there wasn't a technical issue), but I went with WP because I was more familiar with it.

I know sites like gravatar and twitter use ruby on rails. I know it scales better than PHP, but I'm just not used to it.
