I heard that mIRC had other functions besides chatting.Could someone please give me a feedback on the functions and uses of mIRC?

By the way,what is the scripting feature in mIRC for?I also heard that mIRC could be used to download music as well.Is it true?

it can be used to download music but its more trouble than its worth, just get another program to download your music.

The scripting feature is basically for people to make plugins. just do a google for mIRC scripts and you will find some of the things available.

Yea scripts are just like plugins.. I use NoNameScript.. It would be good for an irc beginner to use, try it.. irc is also a method of secure conversations using encryption such as blowfish..

I heard that mIRC users often get infected with trojans,worms and malware.Why is this so and how do I prevent this from happening?

basically a lot of noobs use irc to download music and there are a lot of trash on there.

so DONT USE IT TO DOWNLOAD FILES!

use something else

DCC is quite slow to download files, depending on the other persons connection.. And it depends what the person downloads its not to do with the application.. That is like saying everyone on msn gets virus' when its really only the people who are stupid enough to click passed on links from infected files..
