Scanning Online Files Before Download
I am not sure about whether some online files are malicious or not.I seriously need a reliable antivirus software to scan online files before I download them.I have tried Dr.Web but it is unreliable.Could someone please suggest to me a reliable antivirus, one which can scan and detect many kinds of viruses, like trojan vutumonde, trojan low zones, trojan downloader,w32 viruses, etc. in online files, please?

RE: Scanning Online Files Before Download
before you download? hmm interesting

Can't help you completly but my favourite desktop scanners are NOD32, AntiVIR (FREE) and kaspersky is okay too.

If your on a budget AntiVIR is great for free (wipes the floor with AVG) and theirs a tutorial here on the forums to remove the nag screens

RE: Scanning Online Files Before Download
Any decent AV with real time protection enabled should flag and quarantine or delete any malicous file as it is being downloaded.

You can also upload a sinlge file to be scanned by multiple AV engines to check if it is clean or not once it is downloaded.

RE: Scanning Online Files Before Download
Lol interesting. But more of interesting it is when it comes to the way they scan the data Tongue

Lance(HAOH) Wrote:reliable antivirus software to scan online files before I download them

maybe try coding up one for yourself. Maybe im planning too since all this sounds so interesting. If you'd the cash, consult birdie or goughy on his rates for php freelance Tongue Then they might be able to code what you want. My idea was actually to create a program which actually downloads your files to a secured folder which programs can't run or execute or linger around the system. Then there a program which you'd find or make would scan multiple files if selected otherwise a singular file and then scan it fixing up results and then let you know of the results. If there are viruses, it would prompt for total deletion if not there isn't, it prompts for you to move a the downloads folder and can be runned normally. There, you don't really need to scan before downloading actually.

another quick one was if tehre was really many people like you, there could be a script made to allow urls to get submitted then downloaded to the server and scanned as it's being downloaded. upon error, it notifies you of it in a huge asynchronous box which gets updated every millisecond Tongue Possible ya'd know. Once it says virus detected, it asks for you to cancel the scan or proceed and then repair if not deny and close the process and server removes all the data downloaded and cache cleared for security Tongue

Not Necessary. Rechecked at 9:21pm.. (Here are just notes if you wanna read/check)

Uh, then i am not sure what you need. But check these out:

-Havp (http://www.server-side.de/)
-DrWeb's Url Check (http://online.us.drweb.com/?url=1)

Rechecked:

HAVP is some scanner for servers. Maybe try creating a script yourself or find some script people made as experimentation or as a project and then scan files on another PC? Maybe that helps. Who knos

Wow just thought of this, you could use a sandbox.

You could use a sandbox, though a Linux Kernel has always worked the best for me!

If quizzes are quizzical..............what does that make a test?
