Internet explorer to be kicked out of windows
It seems that the next big law suit against windows is to remove the internet explorer browser included with the microsoft OSes. Opera claim (and i also agree) that it gives microsoft an unfair advantage in the web browser market, especially when Internet explorer is not as "standards complaint" (also claimed by opera) as the next top browsers.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7143912.stm Perhaps we'll see a small program included with future releases of Windows that allow you to see the features of the top browsers and chose one that will be downloaded by the program and installed on the users choice. Or perhaps a few browsers bundled. who knows

RE: Internet explorer to be kicked out of windows
The best way would be to ask when people are installing Windows. They would have to have a local copy in case it wasn't connected to the internet. Bundling would probably be the easiest, but then people are going to have to uninstall the ones they don't want.

RE: Internet explorer to be kicked out of windows
It is true that Windows has an unfair advantage in the web browser market, however who cares? They bundle their browser with their OS, and they have every right too. Opera is free, and technically Internet Explorer is free as well. Why does Opera and everyone care so much about what browser someone uses? Opera is not selling their browser, and they are not losing money from Internet Explorer being the #1 used browser in the world, so why sue for something so small? Users do have a choice in what browser they use, if they do not like Internet Explorer then they can easily download another browser of their choice. And think about it, a very large amount of below average computer users do own a computer, and upon installation they wont know which browser to choose, they might get confused. People are not very good with computers nowadays, and this will just cause more problems. If you don't like Internet Explorer, download another browser, that simple. Microsoft's decision to bundle their browser is for you, the consumer, for convenience. If users do not know what a browser is in the first place, then they will be fine with Internet Explorer.

RE: Internet explorer to be kicked out of windows
Pretty soon there will be a lawsuit saying the kernel windows uses is an unfair advantage or that windows explorer (explorer.exe) shouldn't be the default shell....
is this a diplomacy? no. Its a Microsoft-Ocracy. It's their OS... you aren't forced to use it. Thats what linux distros are for... or hell, macs' for all you mac fanboys. I'm hardly a Microshit fanboy... but theres no use in trying to control whats in their software or soon all software will be controlled with lawsuits. Hell, I'll sue MYBB for putting this Post Reply button on the left right below where i'm typing... instead of on the right. I Want It On The Right! That Gives Lefties An Unfair Advantage!!!. jk. |
