If you've been experiencing some downtime over the last few days its due to various ddos attacks on the hardware the VPS is on.
I'm working with the hosts to try and get this fixed but progress is slow and apparently they cant auto detect ddos attacks although I dont think it would be too hard if you knew what you we're doing.
UPDATE:
Jeff, VPSLand Support Wrote:We just verified this was a DDOS attack on our upstream bandwidth provider. They've stopped the attack on their side and everything is back to normal on our side as well. This was not an attack on us or our network, but rather something upstream beyond our control.
Thanks for your understanding and we're working with them to ensure this ceases permanently.
The forum has been updated to 1.4 and to cut down on errors the old templates have been deactivated and you have all been switch to this temporary template which we'll customize shortly.
As you can see we're going to go for a more web 2.0 friendly style this time to try and attract some new users, once the template has been completed then i'll be putting some extra work into promoting the forums and getting us back to how we were, hopefully will be a bit easier with the summer break over half way through, people must be bored by now
Sorry about the downtime but we're back. Server seems to have took some bashing but the guys at the datacenter have restarted it now and the services are coming back online.
Does anyone know about what time it went off? (GMT)
I've upped a new theme to the forums with a clean simple feel thats easy on the eye and less heavy on the graphics for those with slower connections or just prefer that kind of site.
